At Todd Research, we are committed to supporting organisations in their efforts to protect communities and create safer public environments. One of our recent projects has seen us working closely with Havering Borough Council to supply a Metrasens search pole, a portable solution designed to help policing teams identify potential threats from knives and other ferrous metals.
The Council, which places a strong emphasis on public safety and community wellbeing, identified a need for a discreet and effective tool to assist in managing security risks in busy public areas. Working with their local policing teams, Havering Borough Council selected the Metrasens search pole as the ideal solution. Unlike traditional metal detectors, this technology is highly portable and easy to deploy, making it well suited for use in varied environments.
The Council intends to utilise the search pole within shopping centres where large numbers of people gather, particularly during weekends and seasonal peaks. In these locations, the presence of a reliable screening device provides reassurance both to the public and to staff working on the ground. In addition to these deployments, Havering Borough Council has also recognised the potential for extending its use to local schools. By lending the device to educational establishments during events, such as concerts or open evenings, the Council is helping to ensure that students, staff, and visitors benefit from an additional layer of protection.
Feedback from the Council and policing teams has been positive, highlighting the ease of use and the confidence it brings to frontline staff. Its discreet design allows it to blend into everyday environments without causing unnecessary disruption, while still delivering robust security screening capabilities.
