Following a spate of targeted postal attacks at Embassies across Europe, the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) have renewed their long-term contract with Todd Research to supply over
200 of their industry leading TR15 cabinet x-ray scanners. Under the terms of the contract which was renewed in 2020, Todd Research have supplied, and continued to support and maintain both new and
existing x-ray equipment access a multi worldwide estate.

Throughout 2022 and continuing into 2023, there continues to be a high number of targeted postal attacks across Europe, including a spate of packages containing white powder and letter bombs, and
parcels containing animal eyes sent to eight Ukrainian embassies across Europe.

Cabinet x-ray scanners provide a compact, cost-effective threat detection solution offering protection from powder threats such as Anthrax and Ricin as well as sharps and explosives. The TR15 + Smart Scan
manufactured by Todd Research can detect as little as 3 grams of powder, using enhanced EPD (enhanced powder detection) software.

Todd Research have extensive experience with cabinet x-ray scanners and offer a range of innovative products to suit individual business requirements.

Founded in 1950, the experience of Todd Research goes right back to the height of the IRA activity and the need for Government to deploy equipment to combat the postal threats. In January of 1981, a letter
bomb sent to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was intercepted by a London postal worker. In 1983, there were 27 attacks, including letter bombs to Margaret Thatcher and Diana, Princess of Wales. This
lead Todd Research to the development that continues today of a range of cabinet x-ray scanners, capable of accommodating a single item or mail bag, the user in a matter of seconds can see the
contents of the package and via image enhancement tools can further interrogate the item to confirm it ‘safe or suspect’.

Todd Research are extremely pleased to be awarded the renewal of this long-term contract, the ongoing supply, support, and maintenance of this equipment is essential in the multi layered approach that Todd
Research provide within Government sites.
